Those of us who followed the Thrash/Speed/Death Metal scene in the late ’80, have vivid memories about a female artist who called herself Kat. She later renamed herself The Great Kat (a natural evolution, I guess). She released two albums, "Worship Me Or Die" and "Beethoven On Speed", on Roadrunner Records before she vanished without a trace.
We contacted The Great Kat through her e- mail address for an update.



1. Could you tell us more about your life before your first CD "Worship Me Or Die" ?

- After listening to Classical music such as Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, and Haydn, since birth, I decided to become a violin virtuoso at the age of 9. I won a scholarship to The Juilliard School of Music in New York City at the age of 15 and after 6 years at Juilliard, I graduated with honors.
I won the Artists International Competition and performed my solo violin debut at Carnegie Recital Hall, toured the U.S., Mexico and England, was the Concertmaster of the Juilliard School Pre-College Orchestra, and won numerous other competitions and awards in violin.
After graduating from The Juilliard School and realizing that Classical Music is DEAD, I decided to take Classical into the 21st Century with modern popular music. After hearing ALL forms of popular music, I came across a Judas Priest video and realized that Classical Music mixed with Metal is the music for the future!!!!!! I then picked up the electric guitar and began systematically transcribing all of my violin solos to the guitar, thereby INVENTING the NEW Music of the 21st Century: CLASSICAL/METAL!!!!!!!!! THEN came the REVOLUTIONARY "Worship Me Or Die!" CD !!!!!

2. You released "Worship Me Or Die" and "Beethoven On Speed" through RoadRunner Records. Could you tell us more about these releases ? How much did they sell ?? Are they still available ?

- "Worship Me Or Die!"-- The INTRODUCTION of HYPERSPEED to the MORON MASSES!!!!!
"Beethoven On Speed"--THE FIRST Metal CD to combine Classical Music and Metal--Beethoven, Chopin, Rimsky-Korsakov, Paganini!!!!!!!

4. That was today's Roadrunner bashing. You vanished without a trace after the release of "Beethoven On Speed". What happend and what took you so long to come up with your third release "Guitar Goddess" ?

- After "Beethoven On Speed" I created the FIRST Classical/Metal interactive Multimedia CD-ROM "Digital Beethoven On Cyberspeed"!!!!!! This COMPLICATED and IN DEPTH educational AND entertainment CD-ROM took several years to complete and has won RAVE reviews from Entertainment Weekly Magazine ("A-"), Billboard, PC Magazine, Associated Press, CyberLife TV Show among MANY others!!!! 8. Which classic composer has inspired you most ?

- Ludwig van Beethoven!!!! POWER! ENERGY! GENIUS MUSIC!! COMPLEXITY!! VICIOUS BRILLIANCE!!! ANGER! NON-CONFORMITY!!! THE ONLY OTHER MUSIC TO COMPARE TO BEETHOVEN IS THE GREAT KAT’S CYBERSPEED CLASSICAL/METAL MUSIC!!!!

9. Your are now releasing your releases on your own, helped out by Thomas Public Releations, Inc. What is the positive and the negative sides of releasing releases on your own without an established record company ? How about the distribution of your releases ? Can they be bought through shops and mail order distribution companies ?
