MTV has hailed Internal Suffering as one of the most brutal GrindCore and Death Metal bands on this planet. ...and you should stop laughing because these Grindsters from Colombia does actually fit this bill !!! Their debut album "Supreme Knowledge Domain" has failed to impress me, but I do not deny that it is a hell of a brutal piece of Grind/Death Metal.
I contacted Andres Garcia in Internal Suffering for an update.



1.When and where was Internal Suffering created ? By whom ?? Please give us a full biography.

INTERNAL SUFFERING was born in November 1996 from the ashes of their previous band SUFFER as a cuartet when Fabián (Vocals), Leandro (Guitars), Andrés (Bass) & Jorge (Drums) decided to play an even faster, heavier & more brutal Death Metal style.

1996 were entirely dedicated to play as many shows as they could with some of the best colombian bands. Also, in March '97 the band had the chance to play along with the respected underground US band INCANTATION during their small tour in Colombia, receiving a great acclamation from the audience. After this show, Fabián (Vocals) was kicked out of the band and was inmediately replaced by Fabio.

In September 1997, colombian death metal label CLINIC RECORDS offered the band to open for the cult thrash/death metal band SODOM during their world tour '97, which meant the biggest live-audience for the band at the moment and in the best place of Medellin, in front of 4.500 people. The band was acclaimed again, receiving very good critics & reviews, establishing as the most brutal, devastating band ever to emerge from Colombia. In the music channel MTV was catalogued as one of the most intense & brutal South-American bands. A couple of months after this killer show, Jorge (Drums) was kicked out of the band due to irreconciliable musical differences, so drums duties were taken over by Edwin.

In March '98 the band entered the studio again to record their first album, but the result wasn't satisfactory due to the lack of experienced engineers & professional recording studios, so the band decided to wait some more time till they found a proper place to record the album.

After playing some shows and rehearsing constantly, the band decided to recruit Fabio on Drums in replace of Edwin.

1999 was the time to enter the studio once again with the intention to record their long awaited CD debut "Supreme Knowledge Domain". This time the result couldn't be better so the band decided to send a sample of the recording to one of the most important Death Metal labels worldwide REPULSE RECORDS/QABALAH PRODUCTIONS who inmediately showed their interest and signed the band to release the album. The album was unleashed in September 1st. 2000 and it's selling very well worldwide.

A couple of days after having recorded the album, drummer Fabio had to leave the band, so Edwin who was the previous drummer replaced him, joining the band again.

In April 2000, the band entered the studio again to record their Promo 2000 which features three new tracks plus an improved version of their cult track "Outside Dwellers", & what you can expect is one of the most brutal shit released during the new millenium.

This Promo called the attention of many labels worldwide, one was Japan's MACABRE MEMENTOS RECORDS which offered the band to release a 6 trax MCD. This release will be out in February 2001.

In November 2000, the respected Spanish underground label FLESHFEAST PRODUCTIONS contacted the band and offered it to record a Split CD with the brutal american band STENCH OF DECREPITCY (Formerly known as MALTHUSIA), this release promises to become the most intense, over the top Split CD ever unleashed upon men. This album will hit the streets during March 2001.

The band has also appeared in several compilations worldwide, establishing as one of the most serious, & uncompromising Death Metal forces to be reckoned with in the nowadays underground scene.

Watch out for new shows updates and expect for the upcoming INTERNAL SUFFERING releases that will show you again what true brutal death metal is all about, prepare your ears to bleed once more with the new intensity & blasting fury of their devastating music, as for the weaks & trendies, just beware, INTERNAL SUFFERING attitude & brutishness will crush you all... you've been already warned!!

2. Please tell us more about the chosen band-name. Why did you choose that name ?

' Coz it fits perfectly with our musical and lyrical concept. Another reason is the time we were goin' through when we chose the name.

3. Please tell us more about your demos, rehearsal tapes.

We only released a Promo Tape which contains 3 new trax plus an improved version of the song "Outside Dwellers" from the "Supreme Knowledge Domain" album.

4. How difficult is it to run a Death Metal band in Colombia. Please tell us more about this.

It's very difficult, first of all, it's almost impossible to get a good rehearsal space where to practice often. Another thing is to get good instruments at good prices, you know, we gotta import almost everything from USA so that fuckin' sux.!! The local goverment never support this kinda musick, so you have to do everything by yourself, nobody helps is gonna' help ya. These are perhaps the main problems to run a brutal death metal band here.

5. I have the Purulent's CD and I know about Warmaster Records (where are they now ??). Please tell us more about the Death Metal/Grind Core.

Purulent is recordin' their full length right now, it's gonna' be much sicker & better than their first opus. Warmaster just dissapeared, nobody really knows what happened to this promising label.
There's not a really Death Metal/Grind Core scene in Colombia, just a few bands play brutal death metal, 90% of the bands just care about following trends or play the kinda musick that sells more worldwide, they're just a bunch of assholes who think this is a fuckin' game or something like that!! In two or three years they won't even be playin' metal maybe not even listenin' to it!!
Some colombian that deserve attention are: GORETRADE, PURULENT, CARNAL, among few others.

6. How did you get in touch with Quabalah/Repulse Records ?

As soon as we finished the recordin' of the album I sent a sample of it to REPULSE RECORDS and the same day they received it signed us to release the album, they didn't believe it was a Colombian band and were very amazed by the brutality & intensity of the band.

7. Please give us a presentation of "Supreme Knowledge Domain" album. The recording, lyrics, the concept &..the full story !!!!

"Supreme Knowledge Domain" was recorded & mixed at a local studio called "Jupiter Recordin' Studios" during March/September '99, then it was mastered in Madrid (Spain) and pressed at Sony DADC in Austria. The lyrics of the album are based mainly on topics such as Chaldean, Mesopotamiam, Greek & Asirian occultism & mythology, as well as for the legacies left by the masters A. Crowley & H.P. Lovecraft and some other dark & occult stuff not to mention here.

8. Which bands would you compare Internal Suffering with ?

I wouldn't compare INTERNAL SUFFERING to any other band, we have our own style but I must say that we're influenced by the most extreme, brutal, over the top bands ever, some of our faves are: SUFFOCATION, INCANTATION, DISGORGE (Both of them!), FERMENTO, REPUDILATION, DEVOURMENT, WORMED, MAGUS, ENTETY, SPLATTERED CADAVER, INFERNAL TORMENT (Their first opus), INTERNAL BLEEDING (their old shit), MORTICIAN, DEEDS OF FLESH, IMMOLATION, DAMNABLE (their demo "Inperdition"), CLEAN FLESH and the list just goes on.

9. What is your view on today's Death Metal/Grind Core scene ??

The today's Death/Grind metal scene is getting pretty strong, with bands that keep a real, uncompromising attitude, Death Metal is back, on the top as the supreme genre, the trend had to end sooner or later, Death metal is ruling again and no one will stop it, weaks must prepare for their extermination, you've been warned!!

10. After the release of "Supreme Knowledge Domain"; have you done any tours, festivals, gigs etc. etc. ?

We've played a lot of shows here in Colombia, among them, the three issues of the Brutal Death Metal Fest.

11. What is your future plans ?

The first thing is a 6 trax MCD on MACABRE MEMENTOS RECORDS (Japan) in February 2001, this Mini CD will be titled "Unmercyful Extermination". Also, Spain's FLESHFEAST PRODUCTIONS will release a Split CD with the brutal american band STENCH OF DECREPITCY (Formerly known as MALTHUSIA), this release promises to become the most intense, over the top Split CD ever unleashed upon men. It'll hit the streets during March 2001.
Also, we're playin' the next Ohio Death Fest and maybe we'll tour North America too.
