Immortal Dominion from USA has managed to establish themselves as a good brutal metal band. The band are regarded as a brilliant live act. They have just released their debut album "Endure" and we caught up with them through e-mail.
1. When and where was Immortal Dominion started ??
Steve's basement in 1992 in Ft. Collins.
2. What do the name mean ??
A spiritual place where there is no death.
3. Could you give us a brief biography??
Immortal Dominion was formed in 1995. We started as a live act, playing with acts like Macabre, Oppressor, Unsane, Today Is The Day, A Day In Life, Malevolent Creation, Abusement Park, and Wicked Innocence. We released the MCD "Birth", who sold 2 000 copies world wide.
Our new album "Endure" was recorded during June 1998 at The Blasting Room. This CD has been distributed nation- wide through Dutch East India Trading.
4. Please tell us more about your background.
We all come from very diverse backgrounds and we are all just
living--same as you.
Our lives are crazy because we live in the USA, where we live in "the
hate state" Colorado.
5. Your released a MCD some time ago. Please tell us more about this
release.
We released "Birth", our demo/EP in Dec. 1996 to give our fans a disk.
6. Your debut album "Endure" has just been released/are about to be
released. Please tell us more about this album. For example the
recording, the lyrics, the writing process and the featured tracks.
"Endure" was recorded at the Blasting Room right here in Ft. Collins.
There were various contributions on all writing and lyrics by all the
members. The word "Endure" is an accurate description of the whole
experience !
7. Please tell us more about the brilliant art- work on that album.
Juha Vuorma is from Finland. He hooked up with us on the Internet.
8. How would you compare your two releases ?
"Birth" -RAW "Endure"-TIGHT
9. I get the impression from the booklet that some of you have
Christian beliefs. There is some references in the booklet. What is
your religious, political and philosophical views ??
We have no religious beliefs due to the fact that religion is a man made
concept that is contrary to spirituality. There are various historical
figures, such as Jesus, that have affected our lives. Politics are
doomed because they are a system.
Philosophical views- nothing
conservative.
10. Necro Butcher in Mayhem recently said that he regard bands like Dimmu
Borgir as pop music and added that true Death and Black Metal should be
brutal. I use the phrase "family friendly Black Metal" on bands like
Dimmu Borgir, but the meaning is the same. What is your view on brutal
metal contra commercial metal ?
If the music is from the heart, go for it....be real.
11. Following my last question; what would you call your music ??
We are UNLIMITED HARD CORE METAL.
12. What is your view on the metal scene in USA ?
It's non existent.
13. You are not signed on any record labels. How do you
sell/distribute your records ? What is your advice to bands who consider
to go independent as you have done ?
Any fucking way you can! Pack a lunch, it's a hard road, rock on!
14. What are your plans in the coming months and year ??
Play tons of shows and sell tons of shit !
15. Any tour plans in Europe ??
YES, do you have any plane tickets and a tour for us ?! (I am afraid not -ed)
