I have my bad days now and then. On one of these days; I thought it was a good idea to send Terror in Deathwitch an interview sheet. I had just got a promo copy of their new release "The Ultimate Death" and I really liked/like it. I had a brief look at the enclosed press release and started to write out the interview sheet. This press release did not tell me that "The Ultimate Death" in fact is Deathwitch’s third album; not the second album as I thought. Shiiiitttttttt !!!!! My second mistake was that I forgot that he is also member of Swordmaster and Runemagick, in addition to Deathwitch and Sacramentum. Fuuuuccccccckkkkk !!!!!!!
Well, I hope you get something out of it. After all; this is a free magazine.



1. When and where was Deatwitch started ?? Could you give us a brief biography ??

We started with the name Deathwitch in 1995. We recorded 2 albums in 1996: "Triumphant Devastation" (released´96) and "Dawn Of Armageddon" (released´97).
Under that time we had some line-up problems but now we got a steady one. The new 3rd album was recorded in may´97 and mixed in feb´98 (Los Angered Recordings / Andy LaRoque) with the new line-up: Terror-vocals/guitar, Peter "Carnivore" Palmdahl-bass, Doomentor-guitar and Corpse-drums.

2. Please tell us more about your background.

I play in 3 other bands wich is RUNEMAGICK, SACRAMENTUM & SWORDMASTER. Peter played in DISSECTION, and the other guys are quite unknown.

3. Deathwitch’s debut album "Triumphant Devastation" was released one- two years ago. Please tell us more about this release.

It was recorded and mixed in only 14 hours so the sound sucks! I don't like that album! "Dawn Of Armageddon" and "The Ultimate Death" is much better... especially the new album !

4. How did you get in touch with Necropolis Records ??

I don't remember... I think I send Paul "Typhon" a demo or something...

5. Your new/second album "The Ultimate Death" has just been released/are about to be released. Please tell us more about this album. For example the recording, the lyrics, the writing process and the featured tracks.

It´s our third album! The sound is more powerful and better now because we had more time in studio and a better one. The lyrics are sick morbid tales about death, perversions and sodomy... The music is sick violent primitive death/black metal !

6. How would you compare your two albums ?

...3 albums... The first one sucks! The second one got great primitive songs but the sound is a little bit to weak. The new album is best !

7. According to the press- release; you started up the Necropolis Records subsidiary label Desecration Record for your own projects but "The Ultimate Death" was released directly on Necropolis Records. Why ??

I don't know... maybe they forgot that at Necropolis... maybe the next one will be back on Desecration.

8. NecroButcher in Mayhem recently said that he regard bands like Dimmu Borgir as pop music and added that true Black Metal should be brutal. I use the phrase "family friendly Black Metal" on bands like Dimmu Borgir, but the meaning is the same. What is your view on bands like Dimmu Borgir ?

Dimmu Borgir is not Black Metal to me! They look like an extreme black band but sounds like a soft synth metal band with raw vocals... they are not my cup of tea! I hate sweet keyboard metal!

9. Following my last question; what would you call your music ??

As said before... SICK VIOLENT PRIMITIVE DEATH / BLACK METAL !!!

10. What is your view on the Jon Nodtvedt imprisonment/saga ?

I have no comments... Dissection could have been a big metal act... I know Peter is in contact with him.

11. You are also a member of Sacramentum. How do you combine these two bands ?

I play in 4 bands and many people can't understand how I manage that, but it has not been any problems yet...Check out the upcoming Sacramentum album "Thy Black Destiny" it's a killer!!! Much more brutality and faster!

12. If I am not mistaken; Sacramentum are signed on Century Media and Deathwitch on Necropolis Records. How would you compare these two labels ?

Necropolis is a darker label than Century Media... but CM is bigger...

13. What is your view on the Black Metal scene in Sweden contra the rest of Scandinavia ?

I don't care so much about other bands... NIFELHEIM is great !

14. What are your plans for Deathwitch in the coming months and year ?? Any tour plans ?

We shall soon start to write some new insane metal for the next release. It would be great to do a tour... time shall tell if we will do it....
