Anasarca is a new band. But two of their members was a part of a band called Vomiting Corpses who released one or two releases on Invasion Records.
We contacted Michael Dorman (bass) for a full update.
1. When and where was Anasarca started ?
- ANASARCA started in 1995, after the drummer of that time and me left Vomiting Corpses because of some quarrels with the other members. We recorded our first promo entitled „Condemned Truth" three weeks after the split- up and a second one "Godmachine" in 1996.
2. Why did you choose that name ?
- It is just the name we liked most. Like many other bands we just looked into a medical book and saw it. the name isn’ t so important, there’s no reason for it.
3.. You was a part of Vomiting Corpses who released one or two releases through Invasion Records. Please tell us more about Vomiting Corpses and their release.
- Please understand when I don’ t want to say so much about that. We released one CD "Coma (the Spheres of Innocence)" on Invasion Records, but we are ANASARCA and although I still like the old VC songs, I don’t want to talk about that time. The CD was a flop with many faults on it and time has gone. ANASARCA is much better and this is the only thing that ‘s important for me and all other ANASARCA members.
4. Why did you leave Vomiting Corpses ? Do this band still exist ?
- As I said, we had some quarrels with the two other members and that was the reason for the split. The band didn’ t exist any more. So, if anyone has a CD, it is a rariety. By the way, there are still some left. If anyone is interested, just get in contact.
5. How was your releationship with Invasion Records ?
- First it was really good, but meanwhile I think that they became a trendlabel. They ever said that they only want release underground music for underground fans, no trendy shit- but as we gave them an ANASARCA -promo they said, that they now just want to sign some Black Metal bands for earning some money and to equalize the money they lost with the Vomiting Corpses CD.
6. How did you get in touch with Repulse Records ?
- Repulse Records were interested in ANASARCA since the release of the first promo, but they
hadn’ t the financial possibility to make a record with us. After some letters we found a possibility to make a good deal ! And I think they won’t regret it any time- we hope so.
7. Please give us a full insight to your debut album "Godmachine". The recording, the tracks, the concept, the line up on the album and the art- work.
- So, at first a complete track list:
-The Way into the Light (intro)
-Godmachine
-The Beast (Perverse Penetration)
-The Weird Ways
-Drowned and Rotten
-Like Thorns in my Head
-Loss of Time
-Scorn
-Corrosive Eclipse
-Condemned Truth
-Whispers and Cries
We recorded the CD at ART TEMPLE PRODUCTIONS in Tungeln, a little city near Oldenburg, about 80 km from us. A friend of us installed a studio there which we used in a familiar atmosphere- it was great and he has a great knowledge.
The ANASARCA line-up is : Michael (vocals/guitars), Frank (guitars), Herb (drums) and Chris (bass)
The art- work is done by Robert Sindermann, a German emigrant who lives with his parents in Denmark now.
To see his address, just take a closer look on our homepage. We would like to work together with him the next recordings, too.
8. How would you compare Invasion Records and Repulse Records ?
- REPULSE RECORDS is done from fans for fans, Invasion Rec. just want to get more money.
On REPULSE there are bands of a style we prefer, we all don’ t like Black Metal so much.
I think REPULSE have more connections and are more involved into the Death Metal scene.
9. What is your political, religious and philosophical views ?
- Politically: we all don’ t like racism and this stupid fascistic scum. But generally said there is no political direction we want to be part of.
Religiously: We are all atheists .We don’ t like satanism or believing in another god. We are our own godz and there are so many stupid wars and violences in the world (e.g. near you) that it would be sick to believe there is something protecting anyone. Me personally I think, that extraterrestrials came down on earth and people thought them to be godly because of their knowledge and technics. That’s the reason for existing religions.
10. What is your view on the Death Metal/Grindcore scene in Germany ?
- There are a lot people listening to that kinda style, but for a German band it is hard to get accepted. It is also hard to get possibilities to play LIVE! Mostly bands as Morbid Angel, Obituary, Death, Cannibal Corpse and so on are those who are prefered. We’ ll see how „Godmachine" will be seen.
11. What are your plans for the coming months and year ? Any tour plans ?
- Yes, we’ ll do a little tour through Spain and Portugal in Sep/Oct. We’ll try to make a little tour through Poland and Slovakia soon- and of course through Germany. But we all have obligations that makes time very rare, so let’s see. We soon start composing new and even faster songs for the next album ...
12. Do you have a merchandise list ? From what address can the band be contacted ?
- There are both-sided/two- coloured longsleeves available (with sleeve- prints) and soon some t-shirts with the "Godmachine" art- work. For more informations just feel free to write to:
